What’s Next, Chambers County?
March 14 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
Second Forum: Where Do We Want to Go?
We met; we talked; we missed you! Twenty-five of your neighbors, elected and appointed officials, and community leaders met for the first of three forums to deliberate on how to improve our quality of life in Chambers County. Chambers Extension, SUSCC, and the David Mathews Center for Civic Life (DMC) convened the first forum, which asked, “Where are we now? What assets do we have in our community? What is working and what isn’t working?” We had a great discussion, and the recorded notes from the forum are available here, in addition to the results from an informal pre-survey about the quality of life in Chambers County, which are available here.
You’re likely thinking, “So, what’s next?” Well, that’s a great question! We are mere days away from the second forum (March 14th, 2017) which asks, “Where do we want to go? What do we want to change about our community? What do we want to preserve?” The second forum will be a time for aspirational thinking, and will give the participants a chance to discuss what it would like to see the community become in the future. While the forum is centered loosely on topics of economic and workforce development, each community is able to define the topic in ways that make it relevant locally. Any issue that affects a community’s quality of life is fair game for discussion.
Community leaders and service providers are eager to hear your perspective, priorities and solutions. This is a golden opportunity for all viewpoints to be heard.
There is no cost to attend. The DMC is graciously providing lunch. Please RSVP to Robin Brown by March 10, 2017 so we can purchase sufficient meals and plan the forum meeting space.

All times are EASTERN, and the forum will take place in the Technology Building at SUSCC.
