Angel graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in psychology and a double minor in counseling and human development and family science. She is a recent graduate of the University of Montevallo, where she earned a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in counseling with a concentration in clinical mental health. Currently, she is a doctoral student in the counseling psychology program at Auburn University. She mentions feeling good about being back at the place that helped shape her into the woman she is today. In addition to Angel’s educational endeavors, prior to graduating with her master’s degree, she served as a counseling intern with No More Martyrs, now rebranded as the Black Women’s Mental Health Institute. This is a national mental health campaign/organization dedicated to raising awareness of and addressing the mental and holistic health needs of Black women and girls. She provided free in-person and virtual counseling services to Black women and girls in the Birmingham area and throughout the state of Alabama. She plans to continue working with the organization both from a clinical and community-based perspective. In conjunction with her clinical intern role with No More Martyrs, she also collaborated with the organization for her participation as a 2022-2023 fellow for the Albert Schweitzer Fellowship of Alabama. By April 15, 2023, Angel completed a 200-hour community service project that aimed to target the mental and emotional health needs of Black women and girls through counseling services, monthly support groups, workshops, and other initiatives.
