The Mathews Center is now accepting applications for our 2022-2023 McKenzie Civic Fellowship! This program aims to equip recent college graduates for more effective, deliberative civic engagement through a year of service. Civic Fellows engage in immersive civic learning experiences while assisting with DMC signature programming focused on strengthening civic life in all sixty-seven Alabama counties.
This position will take place over one calendar year beginning in Summer 2022 and will consist of a hybrid in-office and remote schedule. Civic Fellows are exempt, full-time employees of the David Mathews Center for Civic Life. Special consideration is given to former Jean O’Connor-Snyder Internship Program participants. The deadline to apply is May 31, 2022.
The Robert H. McKenzie Civic Fellows program at the David Mathews Center for Civic Life (DMC) seeks to prepare the next generation for active civic life. The program builds upon the successful immersive civic learning model of the Mathews Center’s Jean O’Connor-Snyder undergraduate internship program. McKenzie Fellows engage in shared learning on democratic practices, conduct research on public engagement, and support the DMC’s work to strengthen civic life in Alabama.
